You Can't Change the Meeting Place! Les Poderviansky Embarks on a European Tour with His Latest Stories
On December 1, Warsaw will host an evening with Les Poderviansky, an artist, writer, and playwright whose works have long since become a treasure trove of iconic quotes.
This time, the stage will come alive with his latest stories — uncensored, without unnecessary explanations or any attempt to pretend that the world around us doesn't deserve a good, merciless roast.
Poderviansky's writing is a cultural code all its own. His characters say what others only dare to think, and the absurdity of their lives often turns out to be far more logical than what happens beyond the stage. Politics, human stupidity, everyday life, art, the love of beauty, and the eternal struggle between common sense and the world around us — he transforms it all into sharp, raw, and remarkably sophisticated satire.
What makes Poderviansky unique is not merely his use of profanity, which many have tried to imitate. Behind it lies a brilliant command of language, classical dramatic structure, philosophical allusions, and a distinctly recognizable Ukrainian reality. That is why his works have been passed down through generations for decades, while individual lines have taken on a life of their own — in everyday conversations, memes, and popular folklore.
This will be more than a literary reading. It will be an encounter with a world where absurdity is called absurdity, fools are called fools, and laughter remains one of the best ways to keep from losing your mind in these difficult times!
